I think you can also right-click a Bible verse in the Agenda and click 'Make {Bible Verse} editable in the new songbook 'Bible verses." In this demo, I only added Gen 1:1-5 but you could do the whole chapter.
This should show all the verses in the middle panel.
To get the text of the selected Bible verses:
Add the Bible verses to the agenda.
Click the "Copy" dropdown button, and select "Copy a description of the agenda":
You will then get the text of all the Bible verses in the Windows Clipboard.
From there, you can paste them into Word or anywhere you want.
Does this work for you?
The reason why you don't get the whole chapter in the middle panel is simply because this panel allows you to "edit" the Bible verse.
Normally, this is not what you need to do.
However, I may have misunderstood your question. Feel free to elaborate.
I think you are right, I am on edit mode. I will have to verify soon.

It was definitely the Edit button aka the green pencil. Solved. Thank you
